Our partners: European Stability Initiative

Although they are two different think tanks, Populari and ESI are in many ways similar. Ten years of experience in research of policy making in B&H and the region, resulted in close cooperation of these two organisations. At the beginning of Populari’s work, ESI organised training for new researchers in Sarajevo, and after capacity strengthening, work together intensified. A strong partnership and cooperation between these two organisations is evident in two reports which they published together, one report concerns ESI’s methodology, on which Populari’s specific work methodology is based, and the other is primarily comprised of field research, as well as a current campaign in the region for the visa-free travel.

A multinational group of analysts founded ESI as a non-profit research institute in June 1999. Since then, ESI has functioned as a response to the need for independent, detailed analysis of complex questions for promotion of stability and prosperity in Europe. During its ten-year existence, ESI has had a great impact on international politics in South-Eastern Europe.

Projects

Think Tank Populari started the DEconstruction  project  in order to use fact-based  arguments to break negative stereotypes of BIH. DEconstruction also serves as a platform for anyone who wants to respond to some of the most common biased media claims about Bosnia.

Reports

In 2010, the debate on international power in Bosnia and Herzegovina is still ongoing. No clear policies that would make the issue less complicated are in place. To investigate what this means outside of BiH and among 27 members of the European Union, with the support of Open Society Institute Think Tank Fund, and CEPS, under the supervision of Michael Emerson, Populari’s researcher Goran Tirak, undertook a challenge by investigating the effectiveness of the OHR when it comes to Bosnian aim towards full integration into the European Union.
